A SHORT WORLD TOUR OF CAT CAFES
They are now all over the world: Melbourne, New York, London, etc.
Cat cafes have attracted more and more visitors over the past two years.
The first café was opened in 1998 in Taiwan, with the aim of providing all cat lovers with a different social experience where they could have a coffee while spending quality time with cats. A great idea, when you think about it, for those who cannot own a pet for various reasons!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Cat cafes are ordinary cafes, but they are inhabited by cats (often from shelters) that customers can watch, pet, or play with. A small additional fee is usually charged to customers on top of their drinks to cater to the needs of the establishment's cats.
In addition, some basic rules are common to most of these institutions to ensure that customers respect the animals: do not wake a sleeping cat or do not use a flash, for example.
